Final race for 1986.
They finished 1st & 2nd and were
also the top 2 Whippets in
Racing for that year |

The Whippet & Greyhound Club formed a
Racing Committee to see how our Whippets
would take to racing.
We trained at the Polo Grounds at
Virginia on a straight track, the dogs
were slipped in pairs until they were
experienced, and were then trained to
come out the boxes in pairs.
We had 15 – 20 Whippets, Dogs & Bitches
that came out each week for racing .
The enjoyment these little dogs got from
racing was amazing.
Word soon got around the Greyhound
breeders and we were asked to put on
exhibition races at Strathalbyn and
Aldinga.
All of my Whippets took part, and they
soon became champions at this sport.
Luke held the Track record for 150
meters at Aldinga, and for the 3 years
that we raced he was never beaten. His
sister tried on many occasions and was
always beaten by him.
John Spoolder, a Greyhound trainer also
had a Whippet Allswell Front Runner.
He and Luke had many a good race, the
Greyhound Owners & Breeders would bet in
cans of beer when these two dogs made it
through to the final.
